Pass the Book
'Pass the book' is a series of road-shows visiting venues across Knowsley, offering families and residents the chance to take part in budget-friendly cookery demonstrations and learn how to create delicious, healthy meals on a budget. Some road-shows were delivered on the doorstep of residents in particularly deprived areas that are food poverty 'hot spots'.
The road-shows are part of a wider campaign called ‘Pass the book’ – aiming to offer accessible solutions to managing food poverty in our communities. The events were organised as a joint project involving One Ark, KHT, Knowsley 5 Borough Partnerships, Knowsley Council and the Big Help Project and sessions were delivered by 'Happy Go Cooking'.
Everyone who took part in the road-shows took home a 'Pass the Book' goody bag containing kitchen utensils that will help create some of the recipes delivered during the sessions. Recipes demonstrated throughout the campaign have now been featured in a 'Pass the Book' recipe book that will be distributed at future events.
The project has engaged with over 245 residents across Knowsley and road-shows will continue up to March 2015 offering the chance for communities to develop skills and knowledge around eating well on a budget.
